FRESHLY WHIPPED @ THE CODY’S D1NZ NATIONAL DRIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 – MANFIELD

So we’re straight back into another season of D1NZ. With plenty of drivers stepping up to the plate, this season looks to be a great one with many newcomers in both Pro and Pro am, with the return of the Christchurch round. For now though, here’s our adventure to Manfield.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSo we took a bus down to the track with all our gear and a car on the back. Not a bad little rig really. Zak was enjoying the views from the bus.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAs you can see, a lot of tyres were taken along for the trip.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWe managed to get to Matamata around 8pm for a feed at the local Macca’s.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWe kept going through the night and were all pretty keen to get to our Motel by this point..\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd we finally made it. Somehow mud covered the front drivers section of the car. Odd.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWe got all set up the next morning with the three C’s parked right next to each other.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWhile waiting for the briefing I had a quick wander around the pits to see what was happening. Bruce Tannock’s car was chilling just outside his pit.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJoe had his Vogue face on..\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSky applied his new patches for the season ahead.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd Brendon seemed ready for action.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTroy started to grid up to get ready for the first lot of Pro Am practising..\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAs did Darren Kelly and a few others.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOk drift time. Todd’s little Corolla wagon seemed to have an automatic spoiler that came up randomly.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTroy’s new wheels are making the car look pretty damn tough. Here he is putting those 555 Knuckles to good use.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nQuite like the look of this R32; very tough.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTeeboon waved the flags to announce times up.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nRene seemed to be sparking up a little bit on his warm down lap.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPretty tough looking Pro line up huh?\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nGaz Whiter’s V8 S14 was sounding and looking damn fine out on track. Some great mods have been done to this car in the off season.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOne member of Team Avocado was out in his FC RX7 V8 monster – finally back out to play after a season off.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDaynom’s RX7 was also slaying tyres as usual.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCurt surely looked ready to reach podium.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCam was pushing some great entry speeds as recorded through a Contour + model, showing speeds of around 80mph.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHugo seemed to be struggling to come to grips with the 85’s steering with a wider setup being ran.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNot sure if Sky’s car was supposed to make that flame or not..\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBruce Tannock’s avocado car was looking rad!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJohnny Latham was up from the South Island to compete in his V8 FD RX7. Damn cool car, even sporting some FW stickers!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTrundle’s RX7 is also always a cool car.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSticking to RX7’s, Daynom loved that sweeping flow of the mid section.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnother RX7 was that of Ben Belcher’s. He was throwing some wicked entries into the drift section!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIf you’re wondering what that flow looks like, just stare at this.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd this.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nJason’s car was looking damn clean with the new graphics scheme. Do like.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTeam work!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOk into the battles. Here’s Troy Jenkins vs Matt Lauder, with Matt going through.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHere’s another battle. Sad to say I don’t know the names of the two dudes.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSam Smith had quite the clear advantage in his battle.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAs did Russell Silfleet.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNico’s car looks good with the new splash livery!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nShane Van Gisbergen was out giving Rattla some hell and did a very good job of it too..\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBut y’all can wait for the results.\r\n\r\n-Chris
