FRESHLY WHIPPED @ KETO MANJI DAY

I’m going to name this event a ‘Celebration of lock’. The event ran by Keto Knuckles owner, Todd Curtis allowed for many different cars to get out and really show off their lock through drifting. Meremere drag strip surprisingly allows for a lot of different setups, starting with a basic manji circuit, down to a reverse entry competition.\r\n\r\nIMG_0587\r\n\r\nBut also happening that day was the V8 Supertourers. Admittedly I don’t care a lot for circuit racing, but the drift boys were out putting on a little demo for the crowd at lunch.\r\n\r\nIMG_2901\r\n\r\nThe D1NZ ute had it’s maiden voyage out around the track and put on quite the display with myself and many others quite surprised by Keg’s ability and the car.\r\n\r\nIMG_2936\r\n\r\nSadly it didn’t last with the axle breaking. Next time.\r\n\r\nIMG_2838\r\n\r\nAs I was arriving another crash had just occured. Not really something you want to see happen to a car of this caliber.\r\n\r\nIMG_2930\r\n\r\nSSR was fine though. Trusty RB29DET under the hood proving to be a lot more useful that day than at the Tauranga round of D1NZ, with many improvements and fixes made.\r\n\r\nIMG_2807\r\n\r\nBack at Meremere the boys were just getting started. Stan has this awesome little KE which i truly can’t fault. Starsharks and fender mirrors are the shit.\r\n\r\nIMG_0659\r\n\r\nNeal brought out his 180sx for a change as he’s usually seen driving the Team Cream Cefiro. He said the whole experience was quite odd as he’s not used to having any power under the bonnet. Good ol’ RB30E’s.\r\n\r\nIMG_0665\r\n\r\nTodd’s wagon is pulling some awesome lock as it swings down the dragstrip.\r\n\r\nIMG_3012\r\n\r\nThis little KP used to be orange and was posted on our Facebook page showing off the crazy reverse style entries the driver was pulling. It’s been repainted now to reflect a bomber style but was still pulling some good turns.\r\n\r\nIMG_2946\r\n\r\nCam popped over from the V8’s to finish off his tyres. Sadly – as expected – it didn’t take long for that to happen.\r\n\r\nIMG_3026\r\n\r\nDylan from DT Komposites was pulling some rad lock through the Keto knuckles.\r\n\r\nIMG_3088-2_1\r\n\r\nAnother Keto customer Faiz was pulling a true ‘flatlock’ around the corner even with the front half of the car missing.\r\n\r\nIMG_3195\r\n\r\nThe dudes from C’s Garage brought out a car they’ve been working on a lot for a customer. Joel hopped behind the wheel and first run pulled off a reverse entry. he then went on to pull them continually.. So damn cool.\r\n\r\n\r\nHere’s some footage I took of the entries.\r\n\r\nIMG_3180\r\n\r\nHugo also popped over to pull some entries too.\r\n\r\nIMG_3235\r\n\r\nGradually pulling reverse entries similar to that of the C’s Garage boys.\r\n\r\nIMG_0715\r\n\r\nbeeoneoneoh.com’s Chris Cain had his B110 ute out to hit the drift with.\r\n\r\nIMG_2824\r\n\r\nMy homie Keisuke from 86 Fighters was out with his AE86 but sadly blew the engine up. Never thought i would see the day. He’s also contributed a few shots to this post. CHEERS.\r\n\r\nIMG_2832\r\n\r\nStan also had a set of A3A’s with him. Quite jealous.\r\n\r\nIMG_3005\r\n\r\nThis S15 was pulling some fast and hard locked up entries through the corner making for an impressive smile from the passenger.\r\n\r\nIMG_3052\r\n\r\nKeiran seems to be one of the only dudes out with his MX5 drifting regularly these days. He does a good job with it too. Hopefully we see more little Miata’s out together soon!\r\n\r\nIMG_2819\r\n\r\nLast but not least – Nate Dogg. Good to see both the car and the driver back out again. Many of you will know Nate for his amazing, awe-inspiring D1NZ commentating. He’s a god.\r\n\r\nCheck out Keto Knuckles on Facebook here.\r\n\r\n-Chris\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
