FRESHLY WHIPPED EXCLUSIVE – DRIFT EMPIRE’S TRACK DAY

Getting an invite along to the Drift Empire day, I happily said yes. I’ve never been to one of their days before, so I was keen to see what they had to offer. Arriving a tad late, I spotted a wide array of cars that were well built and all looking very tough. With a mix of old school Japanese cars, these guys have a great set of cars.

\r\n

Definitely built to work. I’m very surprised I haven’t seen this car before. Usually I recognise 85/86’s quickly as there isn’t many of them. This one easily stands out with it’s huge guards and livery.

\r\n

The car isn’t just for show; that’s for sure. It puts on a great display that sees the car locking up at a near 90 degree lock. Obviously the driver wasn’t new to drifting either.

I find it funny how a once Nissan family car can be turned into something that looks like this evil monster. The car’s not a fan of the mud, as you can see.

\r\n

In its cleaner state you can see the guards flared right out to allow for the huge wheels to sit well. With the SWAT team basing all of their cars around evil black Nissan’s, this Cefiro surely fits in well.

\r\n

Speaking of Cefiro’s, although not drifting at the time, this one was surely looking mighty staunch.

There’s just something about red S13’s drifting that’s awesome…

If you have been following us since our Pukekohe Round 5 D1NZ post, you may recognise this car. Although not sporting the Shirt Addiction livery, the car was still putting out some awesome runs after what appeared to be a quick on the spot tune.

Tony, who is one of the creators of Drift Empire owns this AE85. The car is nothing close to stock, and you can see our feature on it here. After getting asked if I wanted a ride in the car, there was no way I was going to turn down the opportunity.

\r\n

\r\n

As you can see in this raw footage, the little 85 packs a lot of punch for just 120kw and Tony is one heck of a good driver. There is also a quick clip of the Cefiro above at the end.

After the run I slapped some pink bits on the car and checked out the other rides.

Due to the quick speed of this shot, the car seems to be creating clouds. Not a hard task from a JZX100. It’s good to see more JZX’s out getting some action. Although they look great parked up, they also look great shredding tyres.

You may think you’re cool, but you’re not supercharged C34 Laurel cool.

Just casually crunching cones in the rain.

Sadly I couldn’t stick around too long due to a Uni assignment being due the next day.. However just before I left I snapped this quick picture. I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, we love AE85/86’s.

\r\n

Cheers to the Drift Empire team for putting on this awesome day.
