FRESHLY WHIPPED DRIVER PROFILE :// SKY ZHAO – D1NZ DRIFTER

Sky Zhao, a rookie drifter turned pro. Out in force with his S15 Silvia showing how he can easily run with the big boys. I caught up with Sky over 2 Days – 4&Rotary Nats, and a private track day at Pukekohe.

I first saw Sky out on the course, putting on a show for the crowd. The guy can surely as hell slide.

\r\n

His S15’s livery resembles much that of a D1GP car. Loads of colour and plenty of flare. Finished off with fluoro wheels.

\r\n

Which he happens to have a few sets of..

\r\n

The car itself has had a transplant RB25DET put into it, rather than the usual SR20DET. It surely puts out a lot more power than it’s stock counterpart. Note the matching rocker cover.

\r\n

The interior has also been overhauled. The car has a full roll cage, with all the usual works – replacement e-brake system, gauges, switches, shifter and steering wheel.

\r\n

At first I was somewhat intimidated to meet Sky. Seeing someone have a car sideways like that, I didn’t know what to expect!

\r\n

Upon meeting him however, he’s a cool bloke. In fact, a lot of the Kiwi drifters are just laid back blokes who enjoy having a sliding a car sideways.

\r\n

A quick shoot up against the car and I was on my way. But the next day showcased more of his talented driving.

\r\n

We arrived around 11am and check out the cars, as seen in http://www.freshlywhipped.co.nz/pukmeet3804. We headed over to see Sky and checked out some cars along the way.

\r\n

He took the car out, and I headed off to shoot it on Ford Mountain.

\r\n

He keep it sideways a lot, until one of the tires buggered out on him half way through the corner.

\r\n

With a not too pleasant result..

\r\n
