FRESHLY WHIPPED AT GARAGE H’S ADVANCE TRACK DAY

When in comes to drift track days, the Garage H team put on a pretty damn good day. With cars from all over the north island, you get to see a diverse range of cars.

\r\n

With this day being the first reverse drift day, I was really keen to see how the drivers would react to a ‘whole new track’. With some big names such as Jason Sellers and Nico Reid out drifting, it was great to see how the pros take the track too.

\r\n

Sadly with the weather being horrible, this was another test of my dedication. With a Pak ‘n Save bag covering my camera, another track day was about to start.

Jason seemed to take the track easily. Although after a chat with him yesterday it seems it was not as easy as it looks, with the reverse track being something very different to the normal.

\r\n

Nico also seemed to take the changed of route easily, with clean lines after only a lap or two.

Sadly with typical Auckland weather, it was off and on showers all day. This made the track even more harder to get right. Cam took the wet reverse well though.

The reverse track makes photos look like we’re at an entirely different track. Here’s Justin taking the track with force.

Although the day was about drifting, the cars that show up are often awesome. Such as this SR20 powered KE70.

\r\n

Classic Skylines are surely one of my favourites.

\r\n

Image20110709-IMG_7178I spotted this evil looking car chilling in the car park. We don’t get many of these Camaro’s in NZ.

\r\n

Back to the track we see this S14.5 hitting the course on its normal non-reverse state.  Lovely amount of smoke pouring off the car’s tail.

\r\n

Image20110709-IMG_7147Speaking of Silvia’s, this two tone S13 surely knows how to take the big rear corner.

\r\n

\r\n

Troy’s S15 was looking great without it’s black decals. I like the clean look.

Sunny was out with the Juiced Magazine car. I hear they have a new car in the works for D1NZ 2011/2012.

Jumping back to the pits we see ‘custom pipes’ are the new thing, with this Corolla rocking a couple of love hearts. It’s a nice little touch.

Reverse track tandems do look quite incredible.

\r\n

Cute, but staunch. This car is very admired in NZ, with a recent feature in NZPC.

Wagons look awesome sideways.

Nico always conquers the track easily. I can’t wait to see him out in his new car; should be awesome.

\r\n

\r\n

E&H POWER!

\r\n

Cam was out with his freshly painted R32; looking very swell. Sadly his rear bumper got taken off, but with a few little touch ups it should be fine.

As the day got darker Luke continued to drift his little MX5. I’m always impressed by the car and Luke’s driving ability. I wonder if he has plans to do D1NZ with his MX5.. I’d love to see that.

\r\n

As always, more photos up on the Facebook page.

\r\n

Oh and..
