FRESHLY WHIPPED @ 4&ROTARY’s WINGS Vs WHEELS

A very special festival was held a few weeks back that involved many years of effort to make happen. That event was the Wings vs. Wheels show held at Ardmore Airport in Auckland. The event obviously is showcasing planes and cars at an airstrip; something very cool and very different from the usual National/Drag events held by 4&Rotary.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDrop of the hat drags were being held with Fast and Furious ‘dragwars’ style competition.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAs you know, we love Nigel and his mad Chaser, and Wayne in his slammed S14. CJC do it right.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWhich would you pick? 4WD performance or RWD performance?\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSpectators were out in force with many keen to see their friends race in the drags.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnother friend of ours was racing/drifting in his S13 called ‘The Zombie’. I’m stoked that he’s kept the two tone paint job. We need more S13 two tones.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOnto the drift demo’s, a few pros put on a show and a few rookies also put on a show. Cole Armstrong wasn’t one of the rookies.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nNiko and his Tanefa were out scraping the seal off the ground, with many of the stones flicking up at the media.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWhile Greer from ZeroFighters was drifting his S14 ‘KMAKZI’.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nGood to see an S chassis train going as well.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOf course being Wings vs Wheels we have to show some Wings too.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDavey Reid had his ‘NOTALK’ Mirage out, pulling some stupid fast runs. Don’t underestimate a little mirage..\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIt’s nice to have a meet on the grass for a change. Flush in the park.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPedey from NZPC had his nice Impala out for the weekend cruise.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis GTR was sitting alone in the car park. They really do look best clean.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nKat Benson’s purple Evo sadly was only on display. Would’ve loved to have seen her run some quarter mile times!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nI’ve always thought about building a BMW drift car. Good to see someone else had a similar idea and is doing it well.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd last but not least the OldSchool.co.nz stand. Much like CJC, they always showcase some awesome rides.\r\n\r\nMore info on Wings and Wheels, and other 4&R events check out: http://www.4androtary.co.nz/\r\n\r\n-Chris\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
