FRESHLY WHIPPED @ SKYLINES DOWNUNDER MEET 03/06/2011

Last Friday a group of die hard Skyline fans from SDU (Skylines Down Under) braved the weather and met up in a downtown Auckland car park. A wide range of Skylines and other cars (not necessarily Nissans) turned up to have a chat and see what everyone else has been doing with their cars.

The R32 is an all time classic. The GT-R version nicknamed ‘Godzilla’ struck fear into eyes of Ford and Holden drivers in what was known as the Australian Touring Car Championship. Not a force to be messed with.

R33, the younger brother carries on the Skyline legacy but provides some more modern features and an updated look. This Series 2 GTST is well looked after, a true sign of a SDU member.

Mazda was represented on behalf of this FC RX-7 Convertible. The sleepy eye headlights add a unique touch to a rarely seen car.

The Mark III Supra is also not often seen on our roads either. It is good see one being kept in such great order…

… and ever better to see that the owner has a sense of humour and great taste in stickers.

Typically the older Commodores are part of the Bogan stereotype. This VL with its two tone paint stands out from the crowd and demands attention.

What would a SDU meet be without a handful of RB26s on display?

This particular one housed in a tastefully customized Stagea. Or as the owner described it “a practical GT-R that has left supercar owners behind and wondering what it is.”

Don’t get used to looking at the front of this R34 Sedan. With a RB30 and a massive turbo hanging off the side, it will be hard to beat.

Attention to detail is what separates Skylines Down Under from the rest. This brake and wheel setup belonging to the earlier motioned Stagea.

After attending out first Skylines Down Under meet it is awesome to see the King of the Streets has a great following here in New Zealand.
