FRESHLY WHIPPED AT JAPANESE CLASSIC SERIES – FEBRUARY 19TH
Last Sunday, Hampton Downs hosted the Japanese Classic Car series. This series is made up of many different older Japanese cars. I went along to the event to see what cars this section of NZ has to offer. I was pleasantly surprised.

\r\n
Some of you may have seen this sick AE86 featured in Performance Car recently. It’s a sick car with obvious original Japanese influences.
\r\n
\r\n
This Datsun which was once a 1600, now contains a SR20. Cool to see some new life put into these cars, engine wise.
\r\n
\r\n
The love of Z Cars runs in my family, and this car is no different. I love seeing 260z’s cleaned up and put to use.
\r\n
\r\n
The Dodsons R35 GTR was out racing around the track, leaving every other car for dead. These R35’s never cease to look staunch.
\r\n
\r\n
For a car better known for it’s Rallying roots, this Evo was doing a great job in keeping up with the better suited Street Cars.
\r\n
\r\n
However I quickly found out that this Japanese Series was not just Japanese, but more less a Classic series. Here we see a classic Ford Falcon that’s been racing for longer than I can remember.
\r\n
\r\n
This classic Mercedes SEC500 was also doing very well around the track.
\r\n
\r\n
However not everyone had got the hang of the track yet. This Holden dropped a wheel or two on the apex of the corner, kicking up some dirt.
\r\n
\r\n
For a stock looking car, this Impreza was making some good pace and I believe was placing 3rd.
\r\n
\r\n
I never did see this Civic racing, but I love the means of transporting it. Looks quite convenient.
\r\n
\r\n
Sadly I had to leave early after realising I had something stuck on the sensor of my camera..
\r\n
If you ever have the chance to see this series, do go watch them. The cars that race in this series are so diverse that there’s something for everyone.
