Something I always look forward to is the Hori Dori Drift Day. Filled with young, amateur drivers, it’s neat to see them out in action giving Meremere a shot in their car. Grassroots days like this have taken off in NZ recently with more and more happening. We love it.

At Hori Dori you see many Nissan’s with the odd exception of a Toyota.

\r\n

\r\n

Cars roll up in many different fashions. This Laurel was sitting pretty darn flush.

\r\n

\r\n

It doesn’t take them long to get out onto the track with smoke peeling off the tyres.

\r\n

\r\n

This black S14 was out making some great lines along the strip. The driver seemed to get better and better throughout the day. It’s days like this that help drivers learn the basics of drifting, and more.

\r\n

\r\n

Exiting the first corner, the road dips away a little bit making for some near 3 wheel experiences, which some cars managed..

\r\n

\r\n

Powering through that and into a blur, this S13 was taking the corners hard.

\r\n

\r\n

Ryan was out in his S13.5 making some great runs. Ryan’s getting better and better with every run.

\r\n

\r\n

It looks pretty staunch going straight too.

\r\n

\r\n

This white S13 looked great throughout the whole day.

\r\n

\r\n

This Laurel had an awesome orange roll cage and hit some lovely drifts along the straight.

\r\n

\r\n

Greer was out in KMAKZI as usual, with some great runs. The car always looks pure evil, not matter what.

\r\n

\r\n

Love how great this car looks stopped. It just captures the grassroots factor of the day.

\r\n

Looks awesome sideways too.

\r\n

\r\n

Straying away from Nissan’s we see this Supra. The owner could surely get some angle and seems to be getting better after every drift day. Awesome to see a classic Supra out drifting.

\r\n

Back to the orange caged Laurel, the owner loved to put on a smoke show for the crowd. Looked great doing it too.

\r\n

Walking around the pits I saw many funky little features on cars. This sticker was quite a hit on our Facebook page.

I just loved the humour in this car. I must’ve looked like an idiot laughing away.

\r\n

To the owner of this sticker, thanks a bunch!

Although modified, these cars still look nice and fresh.

\r\n

This looked great parked up. Give it a tad more low and we’re talking.

Subtle, but awesome.
