FRESHLY WHIPPED @ 100mm Meet Melbourne
In order to cure my sanity, I felt the need to break up 3 days of drifting. I’m not one to complain about that much drifting, but as a photographer I really wanted to be fresh and at my peak on the Sunday. Throughout the week I met a bunch of real cool cats that helped me out along the way. One of those was Nat from Saint Side – a damn cool shop hidden away in Central Melbourne. Nat mentioned that they would have a stand at the local ‘100mm Meet’. After everything she told me about the meet sounded promising, I decided I should break up three days of drifting and hit up the meet instead. In fairness I’m not a huge fan of these ‘hard parks’ we have back home, but this one sounded different and proper. And boy was it.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTouching down at the park named ‘Birrarung Marr’ I found a nice little area for a selection of cars to park up in. Do note, these cars all had to apply to be on display here – there was no public displaying, just the selection. I think this is good personally as it allows for a consistent high quality of cars.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBMW’s seem to have a very large presence over here. Back home they’re spread out between a bunch of slammed golfs, but here we had near new hellaflush Beemers.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd I mean near new. This M3 was already sitting on TE37SL’s..\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOn the note of Golf’s though, there was a decent range of late model and older model Golf’s sitting slammed on a range of wheels – some on BBS.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd some on Borbet(anyone able to confirm?) wheels. Do love this classic Mk 1 shape.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOne thing that did surprise me was seeing a very very slammed Oddessy. I always thought one of these slammed would have a lot of potential and be quite the FW promo vehicle – plus it’d be practical right? Yeah.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBut if an Oddessy doesn’t cover it, hit up a CR-V. A tad bit more sporty and Jeep-esque.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nR34 GTR’s seemed to be plentiful with many on offer on this row.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis WRX on CCW’s really caught my eye. Nice to see a modern WRX in the stance scene.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nQuite nice to see a NSX out on display too! Not a usual sight for us NZer’s.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nA few days prior to the event when i was strolling around the city this pulled over right next to me. I spotted it at the meet a few days later. The Aussies do love this shape of Accord.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nA competitor for Mark’s Slammry from NZ?\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nLove this wagon. Quite the standout from the other more modern vehicles that were parked up.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHonda crew was out in force with even a rad slammed Fit/Jazz!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDigging the wheels and fitment on this S13! Looking quite raw but something definitely different from the usual.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCan’t get enough of E46’s, yellow headlights and roof racks.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTakumi’s modernised 86 brother!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n’Froth Wagon’\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd lastly a crazy 2JZ ‘no shit’ Supra. Nice to see one done up really well.\r\n\r\nThis concludes my Melbourne postings! Hopefully I’ll be overseas soon to gather some more content from Australia.. Until then, watch out for some shots on the Facebook page from our new homie Blake!\r\n\r\n-Chris\r\n\r\n
