Since I shot this event for NZ Performance Car magazine I’ll just do a quick run down for our international friends who follow us for D1NZ. Let’s keep this fairly short and to the point yeah?\r\n\r\nIMG_9351-s\r\n\r\nJodie’s Supra was poking out in the pits – ready for some action.\r\n\r\nIMG_1198-s\r\n\r\nShe was more focused on the briefing however. With all of the drivers lined up ready to hear the days news, straight from the bosses mouth.\r\n\r\nIMG_0122-s\r\n\r\nParked up all alone was Dave and Olly’s 180sx’s. Two of my personal favourites in the country.\r\n\r\nIMG_0303-s\r\nOnly in NZ would you find a half 32 hald Commodore. Quite surprised how well they’ve pulled this off..\r\n\r\nIMG_0545-s\r\n\r\nDale of FC RX7 fame brought out his other project car with his partner, a Mk5 GTi Golf on Rotiform wheels. Damn cool.\r\n\r\nIMG_0346-s\r\n\r\nThe MetalMan Escort was out to put on a show in the V8 Legends battle.\r\n\r\nIMG_0262-s\r\n\r\nAaron Bennett brought out his brother Jock’s old AE for a spin too. Damn cool seeing this car back out in action.\r\n\r\nIMG_0199-s\r\n\r\nSky Zhao was putting on a good show in the 2 Degree’s 350z.\r\n\r\nIMG_1259-s\r\n\r\nWe also had some Aussies come over to put on a show with us..\r\n\r\nIMG_1866-sRob Whyte’s 350z seemed to take to Hampton Downs quite well. Sadly he was knocked out in battle leaving him without a podium spot.\r\n\r\nIMG_0644-s\r\n\r\nAggess of Insane Drifters was also over to compete, putting on an awesome show in his 180sx.\r\n\r\nIMG_0750-s\r\n\r\nOnto the top 16. Fanga’s Commodore was looking tough, ready for some action.\r\n\r\nIMG_0765-s\r\nMike was chilling for the crowds.\r\n\r\nIMG_1342-sNotable moments of the weekend: Kukutai’s wheel fell off. Oops.\r\n\r\nIMG_0660-s\r\nCam Vernon vs Curt Whittaker – a battle that had many fans left annoyed in belief that Cam should’ve gone through. No comment here.\r\n\r\nIMG_0593-s\r\nCam still had a smile on his face though.\r\n\r\nIMG_0996-s\r\nAnother mention for Rob Whyte who put on a great show against Curt Whittaker for the Legends drift comp.\r\n\r\nIMG_1076-s\r\nWith Adam Hedges of C’s Garage fame competing in Hugo’s car for Pro Am it was no surprise to see him come out on top.\r\n\r\nIMG_1143-s\r\n Mike Whiddett won the main podium spot, with Cole Armstrong’s first podium also.\r\nIMG_1158-s\r\n\r\nThe boys got  bit rough with the spraying and left Mike with a bit of a sore eye. Oh well.\r\n\r\nHit up the next issue of NZ Performance Car magazine for the full coverage.\r\n\r\n-Chris\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
